Are you planning a trekking adventure with friends or family on your next vacation? The Marangu Route is a fantastic choice, offering a rewarding six-day climb filled with breathtaking scenery and unforgettable experiences. This route provides not only the thrill of summiting Africa’s highest peak but also the chance to enjoy a variety of activities that will enrich your journey. If you’re looking for the perfect vacation package, you’ve come to the right place.
A day-to-day itinerary provides a clear and structured overview of your safari, outlining each stage of your journey from arrival to departure. It details daily activities, destinations, and accommodation stays, ensuring you know exactly what to expect at every step.

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our team will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi, where dinner and an overnight stay with breakfast are included. Later in the evening, you’ll attend a detailed Kilimanjaro briefing and equipment check to ensure you are fully prepared for the adventure ahead.

After breakfast, we’ll transport you from Moshi to Marangu gate at 1830m/7,000ft. Once at the gate, you’ll be directed to gather your hiking essentials as our experts guide you into the rainforest. This stage offers a chance to observe wildlife. The day concludes at Mandara Hut at 2700m/8,858ft, where dinner and overnight accommodations await. The trek covers a distance of 8km/4 miles, taking 3-4 hours, with a habitat primarily in the rainforest.

Today’s trek leads you from the dense forest zone into the open moorland, offering breathtaking views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. You’ll arrive at Horombo Hut (3,720 m / 12,204 ft), where you can relax and take in the surrounding scenery. The trek covers approximately 12 km / 7 miles, taking 4–6 hours, through a habitat rich in heather and moorland vegetation.

On Day 3, the trek continues toward Mawenzi Hut, passing the striking Zebra Rocks along the way. This day is primarily for acclimatization, with a focus on a slower pace and careful hydration. Meals will be provided throughout the day, and the walking distance is approximately 4–5 hours, allowing your body to adjust comfortably to the higher altitude.

Today, the trek takes you into the barren lunar desert, a dramatic landscape that contrasts sharply with the lower forest and moorland zones. You’ll cover approximately 10 km / 6 miles over 5–7 hours, reaching Kibo Hut (4,700 m / 15,419 ft)—a comfortable resting spot before the challenging final ascent. Along the way, the habitat gradually transitions into the alpine desert, preparing you for the summit attempt.

Beginning at midnight, we ascend through volcanic scree to Gilmans point at 5685m/18,651ft. Continuing across the snow leads to Uhuru Peak at 5895m/19,340ft. After descending to Kibo Hut, a brief stop precedes moving to Horombo Hut. Covering 20km/12 miles, this stretch takes 11-15 hours, with the habitat in the summit zone.

The final day takes us to Marangu National Park Gate at 1830m/6003ft, passing through Mandara Hut at 2700m/8,858ft. Summit certifications are awarded for the successful climb before heading back to the hotel in Moshi for a concluding dinner. The trek covers a distance of 20km/12 miles, primarily in the rainforest habitat. This marks the end of the journey.
